Feeling Far from God? Here's How to Begin Coming Back

Spiritual drift rarely happens in one dramatic moment. More often, it happens slowly through busyness, stress, disappointment, or neglect.

Based on Hebrews 2:1, this Your Nightly Prayer devotional encourages believers to recognize spiritual drift early and return to prayer, Scripture, community, and the presence of Jesus.

Praying Through Psalm 17: The Fierce Protection of God

What happens when we come down from our spiritual "mountaintop" moments only to immediately snap at our kids or fall back into old patterns of impatience?

In this episode of the Praying Christian Women podcast, Jaime takes us through a deeply relatable and encouraging journey into Psalm 17. While David’s prayer asks for protection from physical oppressors, it also brings up a crucial spiritual reality check about our daily human struggles, our need for God's fierce protection, and where we truly find our satisfaction.

Jaime gets wonderfully honest about her own struggles with impatience, hormones, and the frustration of experiencing profound spiritual connection one moment only to lose her temper the next. She reminds us that falling back into old patterns doesn't mean we've failed—it simply means we are human and in desperate need of our Savior's grace.

Then, she unpacks the fierce imagery of God's protection in Psalm 17. Instead of picturing a delicate songbird, Jaime visualizes the Lord as a mighty, fierce bald eagle hiding us in the shadow of His wings. She also explores the difficult reality of watching the wicked prosper in this life, reminding us that while their portion is limited to temporary earthly wealth, our inheritance is eternal: we will awake to behold the face of God!

Whether you are feeling frustrated by your own imperfections, struggling to understand why those who ignore God seem to prosper, or simply needing a reminder of the Lord's fierce protection, we hope this prayerful episode encourages you to rest in His grace, let go of earthly envy, and fix your eyes on eternity!

A Prayer to Appreciate Labor Day

This Labor Day, take a moment to thank God not only for the opportunity to rest, but also for the work He's given you to do.

Colossians 3:23 reminds us to work wholeheartedly as for the Lord. Whether your labor happens at a desk, on your feet, inside your home, or while caring for others, today's prayer asks God to help us work faithfully, rest intentionally, and glorify Him through both.

A Prayer for Deeper Roots

Life changes. Seasons shift. Circumstances don't always unfold the way we expected.

But Scripture reminds us that stability isn't found in keeping everything around us the same. It comes from being deeply rooted in God.

Inspired by Ephesians 3:17 and Jeremiah 17:8, A Prayer for Deeper Roots encourages us to trust God's faithfulness, resist the pressure to live by the world's standards, and find peace when life feels uncertain.

A Prayer When Your Mind Feels Pulled in Every Direction | Your Daily Prayer

When everything seems to demand your attention at once, it's easy to believe the answer is simply to do more. But Psalm 46:10 offers a different invitation: “Be still, and know that I am God.”

Today's Your Daily Prayer reminds us that we don't have to carry the pressure of keeping everything under control. God invites us to slow down, release what we cannot control, focus on what's in front of us, and rediscover the peace of His presence.

Peace for Busy Evenings | A Nightly Prayer for Overwhelmed Families

Back-to-school schedules, sports, activities, work, errands, and family responsibilities can turn evenings into a race to keep up.

But you don't have to match the speed of your schedule.

Inspired by Psalm 147:14 and Philippians 4:7, this Your Nightly Prayer devotional reminds us that God cares about the pace of our hearts as much as the productivity of our hands. Discover how boundaries, margin, and God's presence can help you experience peace even when life remains full.

A Prayer for the “Basket” Season of an Adult Child | Your Daily Prayer

There comes a season when parents must loosen their grip and trust God with the children they've spent years raising.

In Exodus 2, Jochebed carefully prepared a basket for Moses—but then she had to release it into the water. Rachel Wojo uses this powerful picture to remind parents that our children's futures were never ultimately held in our hands. They're held in God's.

If you're facing a wedding, college move, first apartment, empty nest, or even an adult child who seems far from God, this prayer will encourage you to place what you cannot control into the hands of the One who never stops watching over them.

A Prayer for Joy That Feels Blocked by Burdens | Your Daily Prayer

What do you do when you know you have reasons to be grateful, but your heart still feels heavy?

Psalm 90:14 reminds us that our deepest joy is found in God's faithful love. Today's prayer encourages us to bring our sadness, uncertainty, disappointment, and overwhelming circumstances honestly before God and trust Him to renew our joy—even when our circumstances haven't changed.

Can’t Slow Down? A Prayer for Rest in a Busy Season

When life feels constantly rushed, rest can begin to feel irresponsible. Based on Hebrews 4:9-11, this Your Nightly Prayer devotional reminds us that Sabbath rest is part of God’s good design.

Tonight, release the pressure to finish everything, step away from the noise, and receive God’s rhythm of rest.

When Christ Chose Me

I am starting to build an archive of follower's experience the moment when they realized and accepted the invitation from Christ. Do you remember that moment, where you were, who you were with, how did it all happen? And, what was the "hour you first believed" like? This is my story. A Prayer to Let God’s Joy Lead Your Heart | Your Daily Prayer

When responsibilities, worries, and difficult circumstances weigh heavily on your heart, joy can feel far away.

Nehemiah 8:10 reminds us, “The joy of the LORD is your strength.” Today's prayer encourages us to find a joy deeper than temporary happiness—a joy grounded in God's goodness, presence, and faithfulness.

A Prayer to Live from Victory and Not Defeat | Your Daily Prayer

Feeling defeated doesn't mean you have been defeated.

1 Corinthians 15:57 reminds us that God gives us victory through Jesus Christ. Today's prayer encourages us to recognize thoughts rooted in fear and discouragement and replace them with the truth of what Christ has already accomplished.

When You’re Afraid of Getting It Wrong | Your Nightly Prayer

Fear of choosing the wrong path can leave us stuck, second-guessing ourselves and searching desperately for certainty.

Psalm 32:8 reminds us that God promises to instruct, teach, and counsel us. This Your Nightly Prayer devotional encourages us to seek Jesus more than the perfect answer and trust that He is greater than our fear of getting it wrong.

Entering a New Season Rooted in God | Your Nightly Prayer

New seasons can quickly make life feel scattered.

Inspired by Jeremiah 17:7–8, this Your Nightly Prayer devotional reminds us that stability does not come from controlling every detail. It comes from letting our roots go deep in God first.

Woman Running Food Pantry For School Children Surprised With Gifts

A woman running a food pantry for school children is surprised with gifts, and it’s a wonderful little surprise. She worked as a school secretary at AH Bush Elementary School in Idaho Falls for 16 years, and even though she’s retired, she still runs the food pantry for children who might need to take home food for the weekend. Watch the video to see a little bit of the blessing she gives come back her way.

East Idaho News set up a fake emergency meeting to get the woman, Patrice, to come to the school so they could surprise her. It’s so sweet to see this Idaho woman running a food pantry, surprised with gifts–a restaurant and an Amazon gift card, which she said she will use for the food pantry.

“I don't want them hungry on the weekends,” Patrice said of the kids at the school and why she created the pantry. “I want them to go home and have kid-friendly food that they can prepare themselves. And their families are

welcome to come and shop here with us, just take whatever they want.”

How Patrice Is Helping Where She Can

According to the Idaho Food Bank’s website, there are 84,750 food-insecure children in the state of Idaho. So Patrice is helping fill a big need that some families have.

“I retired, and then they just kind of called and said we need someone to help with thi,s no one's no one's doing it,” Patrice said. “We worked long and hard to get it set up, and I didn't want it to go to waste. So my kind sister Penny and my husband Pete and all of our kids come [and help].”

It is wonderful that a news station got wind of this woman running the food pantry and surprised her with gifts. Hopefully, the pantry has all the help it needs now.

Father-Son Woodworking Business Helps Those Fighting Cancer

A father-son woodworking business helps those fighting cancer by donating 15% of their proceeds to cancer research. And the reason why is so bittersweet. The father and son duo lost the heart of their home–Magnus’ mom, to colon cancer in 2020.

Magnus, who is 19 now, started a woodworking business, Magnus Woodsmith, with the help of his dad, Erik, when he was just a little boy. He was also supported by his mom, Debbie. When Magnus saw how well his mom was cared for during her cancer journey, he wanted to make sure other patients go through the same experience, so he decided to donate 15% of the proceeds to cancer care and research.

The spirit of his mom is in all of their woodwork, which is primarily cheeseboards, trays, and cutting boards. Debbie loved to cook.

“No matter what, she never let life get her down,” Magnus said

Honoring Debbie's Memory

Their work carries Debbie’s memory and the love that she poured into her family and the business. They are honoring her memory and life. Since Magnus started donating to cancer charities, he’s contributed over $8,000 in total.

It is so sweet and sincere that this father and son want to help those fighting cancer in this way. Cancer is a terrible thing that, sadly, affects many families all over the world. When people like Magnus do things like this, it helps lift their burdens and offers a little bit of hope. It would be wonderful if more companies would follow suit and donate to ministries, people, and organizations in need.

Magnus and his father have set a great example of what it means to give back.

“Do not keep back good from those who have a right to it, when it is in the power of your hand to do it.” Proverbs 3:27

Can Secular Music Point Us to God? Our Tribute to Dolly

Don't forget to grab your free scripture journal at PrayingChristianWomen.com/journal today!

Have you ever wondered if a secular country song could actually bring you closer to God? Or if you can only truly worship while listening to Christian music?

This week, Alana and Jaime honor the incredible legacy of the late Dolly Parton with a unique conversation on how to find the Holy Spirit in unexpected places—and how everyday music can become a powerful template for prayer.

In this episode, Alana and Jaime tackle the imaginary line we often draw between "sacred" and "secular" media. They unpack the idea that if a song isn't promoting sin, it can actually be a tool to draw us closer to the Lord, since we are called to do everything for His glory. They discuss why taking pleasure in the beautiful, ordinary aspects of the human experience perfectly honors God’s design for our creativity, and why themes of family, poverty, and love are deeply biblical.

Jaime breaks down the profound spiritual themes hidden inside Dolly's autobiographical "Coat of Many Colors," and shares a moving story about a handmade prayer shawl to show how we can weave prayer into our physical actions.

Then, Alana walks you step-by-step through her tactile Bible study method, showing exactly how to use a physical concordance to turn the lyrics of Dolly’s "Light of a Clear Blue Morning" into an interactive journey through Scripture.

You’ll walk away with a fresh appreciation for Dolly's unifying legacy, a reminder of the incredible freedom we have to find God in all things, and practical wisdom on how to make your favorite secular playlist a springboard for worship.
