Meet Jimothy, Seattle’s viral raccoon with short spine syndrome. His unique condition makes him adorable and fun to watch. Play the video to see what we mean. 

The internet has been following little Jimothy, Seattle’s Viral Raccoon, since he was just a baby. Now, at approximately one to two years old, fans keep a watch for Jimothy sightings. In July, fans were delighted when he was caught performing a new move—a somersault/barrel roll. 

Due to his condition, Jimothy’s head is about a quarter of the size of his body, and he can’t move around as agilely as his siblings. He kind of looks like a fluffy ball with legs.

“I got very confused at what I was seeing,” said one observer. “I just have never seen any other animal like it.”

Observers note that when he was younger, his mom and siblings would patiently help him with his tasks and even carry him when needed. He’s a local legend now in his Seattle neighborhood.

What Is Short Spind Syndrome?

Short spine syndrome in raccoons isn’t something very common. 

“In dogs, short spine syndrome causes the vertebrae to remain soft and pliable during the fetal stage, rather than hardening into bone,” journalist Sarah Kuta said. “Over time, the vertebrae get compressed and may eventually fuse together. Dogs with the condition usually have short, sloping backs and short tails. Scientists don’t know what causes the condition, but they suspect inbreeding may play a role in its development.” Like some dogs with the condition, Jimothy also has a short, sloping back and a very short tail. 

Videos of Jimothy have gotten over 5 million views, and it is safe to say he is a Seattle celebrity. Recently, the local baseball team, the Seattle Mariners, hosted a “Jimothy Night” in honor of the raccoon and his fans. One of the team members even had Jimothy t-shirts made for his team, and fans had the option to buy them, too. 

I’d bet that Jimothy, Seattle’s viral raccoon, is bound to be the state’s next tourist attraction—though he may prove to be a little elusive.

When a little boy was playing outside his Conneticut home, his trusty dog, Bella, had his back.  He barely had time to react when a large animal started to head toward him. But watch this hero dog save the 6-year-old from a bear attack.

The boy’s dad, Jeffrey Tazzara, heard Bella, a husky, barking aggresively. 

“A vicious bark, not like she barks and yips and howls and stuff … this was a different kind of bark,” he recalled.

When he watched his surveillance footage, he could see the small black bear start to head in his son’s direction. Bella chased it and nipped its tail, and it ran off under Jeffery’s boat and then into the woods. 

If she had not been there, it could have been a different story for Jeffery’s young son. Since the dog saved the 6-year-old from a bear attack, he made sure to give her a big juicy steak. After saving the boy’s life, she certainly earned it.

How Dangerous Are Black Bears?

Black bears are able to swipe their paws with over 500 pounds of force. The force of their bites are much worse—with over 800 pounds of force. It is perhaps needless to say, but bears can be very dangerous animals to be around. 

Earlier this year, another dog protected her family from a bear attack in New Mexico. In the evening one day, a farming family noticed their dog was very attentive to the farm’s parameters. When they woke up the next day, they found her badly wounded. There was evidence indicating she had chased a bear off the property, including scratch marks on trees. Her sacrifice meant all the other animals on the property, including 60 chickens, were safe from harm.  

It’s just incredible that these dogs saved their families from such huge threats. They certainly deserve lots of choice meats, pets, and belly rubs!

Two fighting bald eagles got tangled up in a power line in Canada and had to be untangled by emergency personnel. It could have gotten nasty, but the entanglement may have actually saved them from harming each other. After they were removed, they flew away to safety. 

Two bald eagles getting tangled up together mid-fight isn’t something you see every day. Once firemen got on the scene, they de-energized the line, went up in a cherry picker with a local bird handler, and quickly untangled the birds whose talons were locked together. 

"A great example of fast action and teamwork between our teams with a very happy ending,” the fire department, which is located in Surrey, Canada, said.

How the Eagles Got Tangled

Eagles actually lock talons in both fighting and flirting. 

“Whether for courtship rituals or battles over territory or food, eagles are no stranger to mid-air talon-to-talon contact,” says bird expert Emma Raasch. “While courting, male and female bald eagles will lock their talons together, wings outstretched, and twirl through the sky together. Fighting eagles, most commonly males, will interlock talons, but in a much less cohesive manner. During battle, each eagle will try to get an advantage over the other by flying above it, however, the other eagle will struggle to reverse the advantage in their own favor.”

The power line likely caught them in a free-fall as they were flying together. Thank God that people noticed that the tangled bald eagles were in distress, that the line’s power got cut quickly, and that people came swiftly to help them.

These donkeys have been strategically placed in an area of vulnerability to wildfire outbreaks within the national park. They graze the land and protect the nature around them. There is a small team of donkeys, some of which are named Leonor, Ainhoa, and Ume. They graze for seven hours on average a day. Because this has been so successful, others are following suit across the country.

How the Firefighting Donkeys Project Began

There has been research that reveals the lack of donkeys has increased the number of forest fires in Spain. Donkeys are larger than goats, so their impact is greater. It is shared that they also eat much more than goats. This inspiring act called The Fireflocks Project began in 2016. 

It is amazing to ponder the way that God’s creatures can help protect and prevent hardships on this earth. He is an intentional Creator. He told us that we have dominion over the animals, and part of that responsibility is understanding how to utilize His creatures to take care of His beautiful world. This video will inspire you that even unexpected animals, such as donkeys, can have a powerful impact and be heroes.

About 14 years ago, Steve Greig’s rescue dog died after it was hit by a car. He healed his loss by going to shelters and looking for dogs awaiting death row. Now, he only adopts the dogs no one else wants. 

The first pup he found was a little 13-year-old chihuahua. It brought him a lot of comfort, so he kept adopting dogs no one else wanted. He’s now taken in over 40 animals. Many of them are dogs in their senior years, but he also has cats, chickens, ducks, rabbits, and a pig named Bikini. 

Because of Steve’s admirable effort to adopt dogs no one else wants, he’s inspired a lot of people to do the same. In fact, he has over one million followers on Instagram who enjoy seeing Steve’s love for animals—and his dogs’ amusing senior moments. 

In a recent video he shared, he calls his bulldog, Alice, repeatedly. But the dog just sits there, either lazily or deafly staring into the distance.

He Doesn’t Just Adopt Dogs

In June, he picked up a kitten that was in the rain. 

“When I was coming up with a name, I had in mind that he's a very young kitty, in a house full of old dogs, an old cat, an old pig, an old chicken and an old man,” said Steve. “So I wanted something that represented youth in an environment of the elderly. I came up with Pool Boy… In a few weeks he will no longer need to be isolated and he can begin bringing some new life into this old house. I'm a little worried for us all,” he joked. 

Adopting dogs no one else wants is not easy. It requires a lot of patience, time and money. It’s so heartwarming to see people like this and remember that good exists.

Well, in a clip posted on YouTube, two dogs, instead of resorting to begging, decided to help themselves. Both spotted the target: a mouth-watering red velvet cake, and then hatched a plan, which hopefully ended with it in their grubby little paws and mouths.

After closely watching where their owner placed the delicious cake, the pair of pups put their plan into action. As one might expect, one of the dogs remained near the woman as she enjoyed a piece of cake, keeping an eye on her and distracting her.

This happened while the other pup was in the kitchen, putting its ingenuity and creativity to use, working until the cake was secured.  Once the cake was in their possession, they took off to enjoy the object of all their effort and work.

But that is certainly not all; locations often hire security officials, including a Brooklyn museum that has a cat on its security team.

Everybody has memories of the playground from childhood. Most of the memories are likely pleasant and enjoyable, moments of zooming down the slide, catching a dizzying ride on the merry-go-round or soaring to new heights on the swings. Others may not be so great, especially if the playground resulted in a scraped knee, a sprained ankle or another injury. But that’s kind of life, right? We take the good with the bad.

Whatever your experience was with the playground, it hopefully did not involve enjoying the equipment with massive members of the wildlife community. Sure, that might be a fun and interesting story to tell later, but in the moment, that would have been more than a little frightening. In fact, if there is a large creature such as a bear on the playground equipment, it’s probably a good idea to vacate the premises and let them have it all to themselves.

In a posted clip, a family of bears was captured enjoying the playground equipment. They were just like passing through either. The momma bear and her three cubs were using the slide and a couple of the swings. It was an unbelievably cute display.

I’m also guessing that the four bears probably got that equipment all to themselves and for as long as they wanted, too. There is no one who is going to walk up to a bear and try to tell it that they’ve had plenty of time with it, and it’s time to give someone else a turn. That is not going to happen.

Not every moment in life will give you warm, fuzzy feelings. No one leads a picture-perfect, Hallmark movie life. Things don’t always work out perfectly, with everyone hugging, smiling and sipping coffee while sitting near a warm, toasty fire on Christmas Eve. That may look good on the movie and television screens, but that’s not true to life at all.

The reality is that life is messy, unpredictable and challenging. Things don’t always go as we believe they should. No, instead there is pain, hurt and many ups and downs. To do much of anything in life requires a fair amount of persistence, determination and perseverance. Getting knocked down and failing are going to happen, so it’s best to get used to those unfortunate but undeniably real parts of life.

In a clip posted on YouTube, a cute, sweet little kitten demonstrated a ton of grit and a refusal to give up as it tried to scale a closet. Its buddy was able to climb up the closet with relative ease, but the tiny black-and-white cat had a much harder time of it.

The kitten tried and tried again, and every time, it would find itself falling down and eventually back on the floor. However, this cat was going to make it up there, if it was the last thing it ever did. When it failed to reach the top, it simply got back up and tried again.

Eventually, the cat overcame the challenge and reached the top. Now, it just has to figure out a way to get back down, which may prove to be even more difficult.

It’s as simple as that. It’s a show that is both quotable and rewatchable.

Human beings love being in control, or at least the illusion of it. We all want to believe that what happens in our lives results from our (good) decisions and choices. If we’re in control and have final say-so over what does and doesn’t happen in life, we can never be hurt, caught off guard or surprised.

However, that is incredibly wrong and faulty thinking. Sure, what we do and the choices we make, to a certain degree, do play a role in what happens to us in life. But, as we all know, whenever we have a plan, life tends to come along and change things up. As the old saying goes, “If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans.”

Surprises, both good and bad, happen throughout life. We’ll be caught off guard more times than we’d like to admit. In a posted clip, one man working outside received quite a surprise. Given his reaction, he was not expecting to see what was mere inches from him.

In the video, someone driving along the road stops and begins filming when they see quite the unexpected sight. A man was working in the front yard, near the road, but as he was toiling away, a turkey stealthily approached him.

Given the bird's crazy number of feathers, at times it appears to be gliding along, with its feet not even touching the ground. The bird continues to get closer and closer, and the man has absolutely no idea.

Eventually, the man feels the presence of the person filming the creature behind him, and he reacts accordingly. He is understandably startled, making for a hilarious reaction.

You won’t believe how this pup reacted to a squirrel. The dog had a most unexpected response to a tiny, cute, woodland critter in this hysterical skit. Canines make for wonderful, truly excellent pets. I don’t think anyone would say otherwise. However, many would go a step further and say that dogs are the best pets anyone can have. But I would guess that those who consider themselves “cat people” would argue vigorously otherwise, believing that felines are by far the superior house pet.

Regardless of where you fall on this highly divisive and polarizing topic, dogs and cats, despite their many differences, do share similarities as well. For instance, they can both be incredibly sweet and affectionate. Additionally, they all seem energized by tiny creatures, as if a predator instinct kicks in when they spot a bird or a squirrel. Most of them become instantly crazed and incredibly focused on the tiny being.

In a clip posted on YouTube, one canine took a completely different approach after seeing a curious, hungry squirrel outside. The dog, instead of jumping about and beating on the window, had a very pointed and direct message for the miniature critter. Of course, the dog was excited by the squirrel’s presence, but it gave the squirrel a warning, urging it to make itself scarce and scram.

In surprisingly good penmanship, the canine wrote, ordering the squirrel to “leave.” If that wasn’t clear enough to the squirrel, the canine then added a threat to its message, writing “or else.”

Apparently, the squirrel got the message and left, but not before registering its displeasure with the dog’s threat. An acorn, thrown by the squirrel, strikes the window.

This goat found the funniest use for solar panels. The animal spotted the solar panels and saw an opportunity to have a good time. Watch the short but hilarious clip to see the animal having some fun with solar panels.

Animals are wonderful creatures, and I don’t think that is a controversial statement. Most people would wholeheartedly agree that they are among the best parts of living on this planet. Animals make life a better, fuller and richer experience in every way imaginable. Who would or could argue otherwise?

While most people love animals, they are not always easy to deal with or handle. Dogs, cats, rabbits and every other domesticated animal have a mind of their own, and can be extremely strong-willed and hardheaded, as every pet owner knows well. Cats, in particular, are known for their inability to listen or take direction. They are going to do what they want, and no amount of begging or prompting from you will change that.

Hilariously, as it turns out, goats can also be a tad stubborn. In a posted video, a goat has found its way onto a solar array. Not only does it stand on the expensive solar panels, but it runs, jumps and even does a sort of dance number on the large, expensive item.

Throughout the clip, the goat’s owner begs and pleads with the animal to come down off the panels. But much like someone trying to get a feline to do something against its will, the goat refuses to budge. Instead, the goat continues to have an absolute ball, prancing up and down the panels, surely causing damage.

Eventually, the goat even begins talking back, not wanting to come down because it is simply having way too much fun. This shows that most animals do what they want, and there isn’t much we can do to change that.

Animals are, without a doubt, some of the best creatures on the planet. That’s a statement that even in today’s incredibly polarizing and divisive times sure to get near-universal agreement. Seriously, who is going to argue otherwise? Even if someone thought and felt differently about that matter, they would never vocalize those feelings.

While we can all agree that animals are awesome and deserve to be loved and adored, they still all have their quirks and eccentricities, as any pet owner will tell you. Whenever you think you can predict, with 100 percent certainty, how your precious pup or beloved feline will react in any given environment, get ready because that’s when they’ll surprise you. For the most part, what happens and how they respond will be deliriously funny, causing you to literally laugh out loud.

No one could have predicted how one pup would react when the food processor was in use. Apparently, the dog is not a fan of the popular kitchen appliance. As shown in a posted video posted, the dog starts barking loudly and, for whatever reason, spinning in circles whenever someone uses the food processor.

Why does the animal do this when the food processor is being used? Well, your guess is as good as mine. Perhaps it does not appreciate how loud the machine is, which could explain the barking. As for the spinning, maybe the dog is trying to mimic the food processor's motion? It sees the spinning wildly, and maybe it believes it should, too?

Whatever the reason the animal reacts to the food processor may be, we can all agree that animals always find ways to surprise and entertain us.
