“Lean on the Lord” Housefires

“Lean on the Lord,” performed here by Housefires, Ryan Ellis, and Cecily reminds listeners to forget pride and confidence solely and wrongly placed within. Instead, believers are encouraged to put their trust in the Lord. He provides the strength needed to go on in tough times.

Four lines from the chorus, go as follows:

But one thing's for sure
When I lean on You, Lord
Lean on You, Lord
Somehow Your love gives me the strength to go on

Every singer and musician gathered in that space to sing the stirring song has experienced pain; none among us escape it. But, given the enthusiasm and feeling they demonstrate, they’ve learned that the sacred secret to surviving hard times and the evil in our world comes from Him!

Ryan Ellis and Cecily are two of the writers of the song; Mitch Wong partnered with them in writing the worship number as well. It was first released by Ryan Ellis on June 3, 2022. Ryan, with blond dyed hair and a cream-colored, long-sleeved sweater, sings first. He holds a guitar. Cecily joins in; she’s wearing a stocking cap and a denim jacket. Smiling faces fill the room.

With each passing note, the song becomes stronger and more impactful as the combined voices and musical gifts of  believing singers, pianists, drummers, and guitarists together praise Him!

Scattered about are the members of Housefires, which is a Christian group that began at Grace Midtown Church in Atlanta, Georgia in 2014. The group states on the Worship Together website that, “Housefires is a communal worship expression based out of Atlanta, Georgia with equal desire to elevate the songs that are sung in ordinary houses and write anthems for the gathered church worldwide.”

At 4:50, another singer jumps in with the words “No other have I known.” She repeats the phrase several times. There is nothing particularly rehearsed or formal here. The artists are dressed in flannel shirts and jeans and other casual attire. Instead of formality, the entire “performance,” which really isn’t one, is genuine and heart-felt and moving.

Fellowship and worship, community with believers—we all need those on the dark days!

“Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.” Psalms 100:2

'The Family Of God' Bill Gaither Live Performance

Check out this live performance by Bill Gaither of the song ‘The Family of God.’

“You will notice we say ‘brother and sister’ 'round here, it's because we're a family
And these are so near; when one has a heartache, we all share the tears,
And rejoice in each victory in this family so dear. I'm so glad I'm a part of the Family of God,
I've been washed in the fountain, cleansed by His blood! Joint heirs with Jesus
As we travel this sod, for I'm part of the family, the Family of God.”

This video was filmed live at the Gaither Studios in Alexandria, Indiana this year. Bill and Gloria Gaither are seen sitting in front of a piano, and Bill is singing the lovely words to the song that the two of them wrote together. Other vocalists are also sitting around them and joining them in song.

The story of how ‘The Family of God’ came about goes back to when Bill and Gloria Gaither were home for Easter and attending their home church in Anderson, Indiana. They heard of a young man in the community who had been severely burned in an explosion, and doctors did not expect him to live through the night.

Members of their church prayed all night for the man, and when they all gathered together for Easter the next day, they received the news that he was going to live and was recovering. The church family rejoiced that their prayers had been answered!

After the service, Bill and Gloria talked about what had happened and how wonderful it was to be part of a family of believers. And then, they wrote the song ‘The Family of God.’

We hope that you enjoyed this performance by Bill Gaither of the song ‘The Family of God’ today and it was able to encourage you in some way.

'Plans' Rend Collective Acoustic Music Video

Check out this acoustic music video for the new song from Rend Collective called ‘Plans.’

“I’m a blank page, you’re the author, I’m the canvas, you’re the painter
Oh, my story isn’t over, from the heartbreak, from the hurting
Lord I know that you are moving, oh, come and do a new thing
When I haven’t seen the answer to my prayer, Lord I still believe there’s a miracle to spare”

What a wonderful song from Rend Collective’s forthcoming new album that reminds us that even in the hardest times, God has plans for each and every one of us.

“Another amazing message,” comments one person on YouTube after watching the music video. “Praise God for your beautiful music!”

“Hallelujah and Amen! We love this song of worship, what a blessing to the ears,” writes another person online.

Rend Collective, the Northern Ireland-based worship band, shares their thoughts on their new song and the message behind it.

“The song ‘Plans’ is about that place where we often find ourselves—the grey space between faith and fear,” says Rend Collective. “When we haven’t seen the answer to our prayers. There are elements of the song that hang unresolved, which is real to life. It’s an emotion we wanted to capture musically. We wrote this song as a pillar for us to lean on. In some ways, this song is for us as much as it is for you. We need help remembering to trust in the character of God, even when things shift around. This song reminds us that ultimately, God has a plan for our lives.”

We hope that you enjoyed listening to the song ‘Plans’ today and it was able to bring you some encouragement.

'Winter Wonderland' Christmas Carol From Voices Of Gaither

Check out this festive video from the Voices of Gaither singing the Christmas carol ‘Winter Wonderland.’

“Sleigh bells ring, are you listenin', in the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight, we're happy tonight, walking in a winter wonderland
Gone away is the blue bird, here to stay is the new bird
He's singing our song, as we go along, walking in a winter wonderland”

This wonderful Christmas song was performed and recorded live at the Alabama Theatre in Birmingham, Alabama back in 2000. The whole production shows a beautiful Christmas scene on the stage adorned with twinkling lights.

All of the Voices of Gaither are singing the festive tune along with the piano player and other musicians. And many people in the audience are singing along as well with big smiles on all of their faces.

There is also an amazing saxophone player that has a solo in the middle of the song. And fake snow even comes down from the ceiling onto the singers towards the end of the song. Talk about an incredible Christmas performance full of holiday magic!

Singing songs like ‘Winter Wonderland’ take us back to the magic of Christmas that reminds us of our childhood. But the most important part of Christmas is the little baby that came to save us all. The best gift – our Savior, Jesus Christ! May we reflect on his birth and the true meaning of Christmas this holiday season.

Matthew 2:10-12
When they [the wise men] saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. And going into the house, they saw the Child with Mary His mother, and they fell down and worshiped Him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered Him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh. And being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed to their own country by another way.

Rejoice

Rejoice Lyric Video... Matthew 5:12
Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Violinist Lindsey Stirling Performs 'Joy To The World'

Leave it to a fantastic world-renowned violinist to get us in the mood for the holidays. In this clip, violinist Lindsey Stirling performs, ‘Joy to the World.’

This exciting video starts at a castle with a violinist playing inside. Lindsey is in all green and playing with all of her might. She dances with excitement.

Suddenly, we see her in white in a forest playing with such happiness. You can tell that she loves her craft. Whether in a castle, on a cobblestone road, or in the woods, she is playing her song and enjoying life.

We then glimpse her on the edge of the sea in Ireland. She grins and plays her instrument proudly as she plays next to the water. She plays her bridge with such originality and confidence. Her art is unlike any other violinist I have ever seen. She not only plays violin, but she dances professionally while she plays.

Her smile shines as bright as the song she is playing about the joy of the world, Jesus, who we celebrate at Christmas. The motivational song inspires and uplifts us to celebration and excitement. She puts a Celtic twist on the song.

This time of the year is a special moment to reflect on the goodness and mercy of God to come down to earth in a manger. Jesus is the greatest joy of our lives. As we listen to this song that is full of energy and happiness, may it point us to the greatest joy, which is only found in knowing Christ.

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid! For behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people: Today, in the city of David, a Savior has been born to you. He is Christ the Lord! And this will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” Luke 2:10-12

'Make It Merry' Harry Connick Jr. Official Christmas Music Video

Some true classic singers of our time carry a lot of weight in the swing and jazz department. In this video, “Make it Merry,” Harry Connick Jr. shares his official Christmas music video.

At the start of this video, we hear a soulful piano solo kick it off. Then, Harry begins to sing at the piano. He sings about if someone could spend Christmas at home this year. Suddenly, male and female dancers appear in white.

They begin a beautifully choreographed dance together in a large dark room. A full band of instruments joins in with Harry, all in white, in a bright room.

We realize that the same room where the dance takes place is where the instruments are playing. One is night, and one is day. As he sings this song, he asks his loved one not just to call but to come and visit and make the time of year merry.

He emphasizes the value and importance of being together. Even though it takes effort, it is worth it to be with loved ones during the holidays.

The couple then begins waltzing elegantly during the instrumental. The band plays incredible licks, and the dancers jump and do tricks. The song ends with this upbeat and blues style that makes you want to move.

The song ends with a lot of smiles and happiness. His message is clear that the people we love in life help make the best memories, not the material things that many of us think will.

“Finally, brethren, rejoice, be made complete, be comforted, be like-minded, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.” 2 Corinthians 13:11

Church Choir Performs Soulful Rendition Of 'Can You Feel The Love Tonight' On BGT

It is always fun seeing young people work together in perfect harmony on national television. In this clip, a church choir performs a soulful rendition of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” on BGT.

At the start of the video, the choir is introduced as a choir of kids from Cornwall. The judges ask more about the choir. The director shares that it is a volunteer church cathedral choir. The director speaks very eloquently sharing that their dream is to bring something very traditional to be part of the mainstream.

As the group begins to sing, this group of 8-18 year olds, excites the audience. The group has so many different parts it is incredible to watch them and hear their precision and unity. They have great energy and originality.

Suddenly a young boy sings a solo and the audience absolutely melts over his voice. The choir finishes in stunning confidence. All of the judges stand applauding and the entire audience joins in and cheers. The choir members smile and look so surprised at the response.

The judges tell the choir that it was stunning, that it was perfection, and they have such purity. They love the harmonies and it was classic and they loved the ensemble. The chorus receives four yeses and they all high five and smile at each other. This group has such a beautiful tone that is really enjoyable to listen to.

Choirs give us a little taste of the glory that will one day be given to Jesus in Heaven. We glorify Him now imperfectly, but one day it will be glorious perfection worshiping Him with a new song.

“And they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders. No one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth.” Revelation 14:3
