Christian musician Lauren Daigle scored a massive hit several years ago with “You Say” and it is now a popular target for covers, including one by a talented teenager in Ireland.
Allie Sherlock treats those passing by to a performance of Lauren’s smash hit “You Say,” as she plays the guitar and sings the beautifully written lyrics. Soon after Allie starts playing and singing the first verse, Allie starts amassing a crowd. Some people are spotted filming the young woman’s performance with their phones.
The lyrics aren’t the only delightful elements in the video. The Irish teen’s voice is outstanding. The young woman’s voice sounds very similar to Lauren’s as she belts out the lyrics to those who have gathered to take in the free sidewalk concert.
As odd as it may sound, while Allie does sound like Lauren in the verses, she switches things up for the chorus. When Allie reaches the song’s chorus and hits the song’s high notes, her voice will likely remind listeners of another popular singer: Miley Cyrus.
“You say I am loved when I can’t feel a thing
You say I am strong when I think I am weak
And you say I am held when I am falling short”
The song, about life's highs, lows and pressures, is very well executed. The Irish teen possesses a poise and professionalism not usually seen in someone so young.
The video also shows that Allie may have won herself a devoted fan. For the last minute of the nearly four-minute clip, a young child stands just a few feet away on her right side. He is absolutely captivated and cannot take his eyes off her!
“You Say” is a powerful song with a message about the love, mercy and grace of Christ. He is always faithful and will never leave us or forsake us.
Psalm 40:3 “He has put a new song in my mouth, even praise to our God. Many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in Yahweh.”
This is one of my favorite songs to sing! My favorite line is “It’s a cold and it’s a broken hallelujah “. Those broken hallelujahs are so powerful! 💜❤️
Check out the music video for “Criminals and Kings” by Stellar Kart.
One catchy tune from a group of talented musicians is about how God has called His people to live for more, for a higher calling.
The world is full of fallen, sinful people. God’s Word says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. However, thanks to Christ’s act of love of dying on the cross, humanity can be redeemed and brought back to him, turning away from a life of sin and shame.
In the lyrics to the song “Criminals and Kings” by Stellar Kart, the musicians sing about how people are lost and in need of God. The song also mentions how God has called people for a higher purpose and how most are living below what God has intended for their life.
As the song mentions, God is the only way to escape a life of sin and shame. He has paid the price, fulfilled our debt and is looking to provide a life free from guilt, sin and shame. However, we must first humble ourselves, approach His throne and ask for forgiveness.
“Brought back from the deep
You are my only freedom
From the bottom of my lungs”
As well-written and insightful as the song's lyrics are, the track's video also tells a compelling story. The video mainly focuses its attention on three people: a little girl, a disheveled homeless man living on the street and a young man wearing a suit.
The three appear on their own, existing without knowing one another. However, at one point, the characters in the video do interact with one another, two of them, anyway.
The viewer's assumptions and expectations of those characters are proven totally wrong due to the ingenious way the video is shot and edited.
1 Corinthians 7:17 “But as God has distributed to every man, as the Lord has called every one, so let him walk. As so ordain I in all churches.”
