Jesus was nailed to a cross and killed, a perfect sacrifice for the sins of humanity. He later rose from the grave, winning victory over sin and death. It was the ultimate act of love.
The song “Beauty” by David Funk and Bethel Music reminds us of Christ’s sacrifice, love and beauty.
In John 14:6, Jesus refers to himself as “the way, the truth and the life.” Similarly, the song’s first two verses inform listeners of everything that Christ is to us, calling him “the Word,” “the Life,” as well as “the Man of grace and truth.”
The second verse mentions that because of Christ’s act of love and sacrifice – his death on the cross – that through this sacrifice, this “image of the Father’s outstretched hand,” the face of God has been revealed to all of humanity.
In the third verse, because of Christ’s selfless act of love and His immense beauty, He is worthy of continual love and praise. The song adds that the angles and everyone on earth should bow down before Him.
“Angels cry out this unending song
Holy is the Lord God Almighty
We all bow down in wonder and awe”
How can anyone adequately praise and thank the Lord for what He did by taking our sins upon Himself on the cross all those years ago? The truth is, we can’t do enough. Nothing we ever say or do will ever repay Him for the debt He paid. The only thing we can do is to constantly praise and thank Him and live our lives in a way that would honor and please Him.
This song is an excellent reminder of the beauty and the love of Christ!
Psalms 27:4 “One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.”
Listen to this song titled ‘If The Lord Builds The House’ by Hope Darst and be encouraged by these powerful lyrics today!
“I’ve built up my own name, but the walls couldn’t stand, I’ve trusted my own strength
But it was sinking sand, so I put my ruins into Your hands, and watch You restore them
Like only You can, cause if the Lord builds the house, nobody can tear it down
If the Lord builds the house, nobody can tear it down, when it’s built on His name
There’s nothing gonna shake this ground, if the Lord builds the house, nobody can tear it down”
In the music video, Hope Darst is getting ready at the start of the day with her daughters. Then she goes into her family’s living room and spends some time in the Word first thing in the morning before leaving the house.
Hope Darst shares the story behind ‘If The Lord Builds The House’ and why the song is so important to her.
“I know that every time I’m singing these words, I’m declaring something that I’m putting into both my spirit and into the atmosphere. When my God builds something, nothing can tear it down,” she says. “I can’t tear this thing down, the enemy can’t tear this thing down. If I’m building my life on a firm foundation, no matter what I face, God will stand firm, and He will hold me in the midst of that.“
The beautiful truth that this song conveys is one that we must hold on tight to. If we build our lives on Jesus, nothing can destroy what is built. He is our rock and firm foundation. Storms will come in this life, but the Lord holds us steady through it all.
We hope that you enjoyed listening to this wonderful song by Hope Darst today!
Are you in search of adding an uplifting song to your playlist? Sailboat by Matthew Parker is an uplifting song that will help you sail through life’s storms. The official music video is absolutely beautiful too. The sailboat Matthew sings about is a reference to our heavenly father and how he guides, protects, and comforts us through the battles we face.
She been feeling the weight of the world. She been feeling like a lonely girl.
Her dreams are broken, heart is frozen.
She opens her eyes and sees the horizon, and says Sailboat,
take me somewhere that I wanna go I wanna go.
The powerful lyrics speak to the depths of the turmoil in our hearts and the knowledge Jesus is fighting our battles with us. The song was released in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic, and it was perfect timing.
The world was in lockdown, and we all struggled with isolation from friends and family. Yet, the song speaks to the troubles we face in our daily lives. Matthew partnered with Anya Gerber, and the video features acting from Sidney Seiber. The music video is set on the beach with Anya painting a sailboat and that painting becomes her freedom.
Matthew grew up in Michigan and took piano lessons as a kid. He hated practice until he began creating his own melodies. By the age of 12, he was creating his own music tracks and discovered a passion for music. Since then, he’s had over 50 million streams of music on the web.
His music speaks to the struggles and triumphs of humanity. He says, “Life is an adventure and music should be too.” May this song bless your heart and uplift you today.
“Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water, and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “‘Lord, save me!” Matthew 14:29-30.
Too many people in society today are concerned with money, possessions and fame. Individuals are under this false impression that if they have a great deal of money, own a substantial number of things and are known by plenty of people, they have achieved something meaningful in life.
This errant focus on the temporal is a terrific recipe for unhappiness. No amount of money and possessions will ever be enough. There will always be a hunger for more, more and more.
Instead, like Ben Fuller’s song, “Who I Am,” the only thing that truly matters is who we are in the eyes of the Father and if we are called a child of God.
Ben’s song begins with someone who has momentarily shifted their focus from what matters. After looking in the mirror, the songwriter does not like the person looking back at them.
The songwriter quickly regains the correct focus. They are a child of God and have been set free. Yes, they belong to the Lord!
Despite all that has been or may happen in the world, the songwriter also re-ups his commitment to follow and serve the Lord.
“Everything has been changing, You haven’t left a stone unturned
Anything I’ve been facing, I’ll keep standing on Your word”
“Who I Am” also makes mention of the enormous price Christ paid for us with his death on the cross.
“You gave up everything, for me to have everything”
Everything in this world is temporary. At the end of life, it will not matter how big our bank account or how many cars or houses were owned. The only thing that will matter is whether we were and are called a child of God.
1 John 3:1 “Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knows us not, because it knew him not.”
In John, Jesus mentions a great show of love. “Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends,” according toJohn 15:13. Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice when he laid down his life for you and me.
In the YouTube video for Matt Redman and David Funk’s song, “Lamb of God,” the two musicians sing about Christ’s ultimate act of love, dying on the cross.
The song’s first verse states that the grandeur of a mountaintop or even a beautiful sunrise will top what Christ did on the cross, Nothing has or will ever compete with the “single greatest wonder my soul has ever seen”: the Lamb of God on Calvary. The second verse goes on to mention that neither the oceans below nor the stars in the skies above come close to matching the wonder of His act on the cross.
Through Christ’s death on the cross, He won the victory over sin and death. He was a perfect sacrifice; he took our place. The song’s chorus points this out as well.
“Behold the Son of God
Who takes away our sin
Behold his perfect sacrifice”
Later in the song, the lyrics mention that Christ, because of his selfless act of love on Calvary, is “forever worthy” of our praise. Indeed, Christ is more than worthy of all glory and honor!
Christ died for all humanity, anyone who has lived or is living and who will live on earth. He took all sin and shame upon himself, giving up his life so we may have a chance at everlasting life.
He was a perfect sacrifice, the Lamb of God. Amen, for he alone is worthy!
John 1:29 “The day after, John sees Jesus coming to him and say, ‘See here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!’”
Throughout the Bible, it informs readers that God will never leave them or forsake them. He is an always faithful, loving and merciful God, there whenever we call upon His name.
Those who believe in, worship and adhere to Christ’s commands and teachings are called children of God. Tasha Cobbs Leonard’s song “Jesus Is Mine” reiterates this idea of belonging to Jesus.
In the first verse, Tasha sings about her personal relationship with Christ. He has changed her life for the better. She also sings in the opening verse of Christ’s goodness.
“My heart is his home
No longer am I an orphan
He calls me his own”
Not only has Christ come into and lives in her heart, but Tasha also sings about the other amazing and wonderful ways her life has changed. He has provided her with a “perfect peace,” the ability to seek rest at His feet” and she knows all of this because of “a divine knowledge.”
Christ has changed her life and can do the same for anyone who calls upon Him. He showed mercy on us when he extended his love and grace to those lost and without hope. Tasha mentions this as well.
She sings that even when we were filthy and dirty, covered in our sin and shame, Christ never pushed us away. He accepted us in our present state. He never turned away from us, but instead, because of His mercy, grace and love changed our lives!
Tasha’s song is wonderfully sung and has a beautiful message about the changes Christ has made in her life!
Check out Tasha’s terrific performance.
John 1:12 “To all those who did so take him, however, he gave the right of becoming children of God – that is, to those who had faith in his name.”
There is no one on the face of the earth who is perfect. God’s Word tells us, in Romans 3:23, “all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Despite this, the Lord is faithful to forgive our sins, transgressions and mistakes.
“To You” by the Housefires is about returning to God after a period of sin and unfaithfulness. As the tune mentions, despite our indiscretions and poor choices, He is quick to forgive and even calls us back to Him.
“Oh, you bid come, Father
Oh, so here I come, Father
I’m coming back home, Father”
The lyrics in the beautiful song also state that given what the songwriter has already viewed when it comes to the wonder and love of God, they desire a deeper relationship with him, to “fall a little deeper.”
The temporary pleasures of the world will never be enough. They will never be enough to fill their desire for more the lyrics state. God has something much more fulfilling and satisfying waiting for us.
The last verse in the song reiterates the songwriter’s renewed commitment to God. They will no longer veer off the straight and narrow path but are now “staying home” with Him.
God loves each one of us and he died for us. As the book of John states, God sent his one and only son to die upon the cross so that whoever believes in Him will not die but have everlasting life!
This song is a perfect reminder that God does not want to see anyone fall astray. He loves all and wants to see all change and turn from their sinful ways to Him. If they do, He is faithful to forgive those sins.
What a beautiful message about God’s love for all humanity!
Job 22:23 “If you return to the Almighty, you shall be built up, you shall put away iniquity far from your tabernacles.”
The world is a volatile place. Life comes with many ups and downs, changes and upheaval, but there is One who is constant, consistent and always loving no matter what happens.
The song “Cornerstone” by TobyMac and Zach Williams is about the many different changes in life – the good and the bad. But through it all, Jesus Christ is the one who will never change. His love, grace and mercy will remain. He is the solid foundation.
The song’s chorus accurately describes the changes we all experience in life. The song mentions the transition from one season to the next, the switch from one sunset to another and the many highs and lows attached to those days. However, despite everything the songwriter may experience, they have chosen to remain in Christ.
“Seasons come, and seasons go
They take me high; they leave me low
But I’m still standing on the only rock I know, you’re my cornerstone”
Praise God!
This song’s lyrics and message are similar to that of the old hymn “On Christ the Solid Rock I Stand.” Those who enjoy that hymn are in luck. Near the end of the song, TobyMac cues Zach Williams who sings a verse which happens to be from that hymn.
What a beautiful song reminding us to hold on and to remain faithful even when the circumstances of life may make that difficult.
Yes, life may leave us battered and bruised. It may feel like we can't catch a break or we’re entirely overwhelmed. But Christ has said He will never leave us or forsake us because He is faithful. He has never let us down before. Why would He start now?
1 Peter 2:6 “Because it is contained in scripture, ‘Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, chosen, and precious: He who believes in him will not be disappointed.”
The world is full of problems, complications and troubles. These situations can and do produce, in many people, great worry and anxiety. Despite everything happening in the world, there is still reason to praise and thank God.
“That’s The Thing About Praise,” a song by Benjamin Williams Hasting and Blessing Offor, stresses the importance of praising God during trials and troubles. Life’s tough times come to us all and sometimes, no matter how much we may try to change the situation, all we can do is praise God.
The chorus points out that, at times, all we can do is praise and have faith in God that He is still in control.
“Sometimes the only through it is a hallelujah
Sometimes the only thing to do is just give it to you
And though my troubles shake me, I know they will never move You”
While the song mentions that praising God during tough times is all we may be able to do, it brings up another important, often overlooked aspect of praise. Praising and just being grateful and thankful for what God has done in our lives changes our perspective.
One line in the song states that praise may not always fix your problems, but “it’ll tell you how small they are.”
Yes, I understand that, at the time, those specific problems and issues feel monumental. But if we step back and really examine everything and understand that God is still working, those problems may not seem as huge as previously thought.
What an insightful way to think about praise during troubles!
“That’s The Thing About Praise,” in addition to being a catchy song, also includes some interesting thoughts and ideas about praising God during troubles. Give this song a listen!
Hebrews 13:15 “By him, therefore, let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.”
As great as life can be, it can also put you in a state of confusion and despair. Circumstances will leave you questioning and with doubts. Does anybody care? Am I all alone? Am I worthy of being loved? A song from Hannah Hobbs answers these questions and more.
In a video posted on YouTube, Hannah Hobbs sings “Never Walk Alone.” The lyrics to Hannah’s song provide an overwhelming response to questions about self-worth, loneliness and our ability to fight life’s battles.
The song’s first two verses mention that God is always present, always listening and His heart cares for every one of us. He watches over us, and we are all safe in His love.
The song’s chorus reminds us of the faithful nature of God. He has never and will never leave or forsake us in our time of need.
“I have never walked alone
I’ve never been abandoned
You are my inheritance”
The Lord is our strength and provides us with confidence, the song states. Also, as the lyrics mention, when the way forward is unclear, He goes before us.
Hannah performs the beautiful song about God’s faithfulness, protection and love in a dimly lit room surrounded by several people who all sing along. In addition to providing lead vocals, Hannah also plays the piano on “Never Walk Alone.”
The lyrics in Hannah’s song are desperately needed in the world today. Entirely too many people believe they are alone. People feel that no one cares and that no one understands what they are experiencing and going through.
Not only does the Lord care about us, but he is right there with us going through it. As the song puts it, “You are faithful, and you always will be.”
2 Thessalonians 3:3 “But the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you, and keep you from evil.”
Life can be an unfun and punishing experience at times. It can feel that every choice, every option and every decision is nothing but a lose-lose proposition. Regardless of how much life may leave us bloodied and bruised, giving up is the worst decision anyone could make.
“Up,” a song by Tauren Wells, is an upbeat and catchy tune that encourages listeners to keep striving, to keep moving forward and to never, ever give up.
As the first verse points out, life, at times, is tough on everyone – from the people on Wall Street to the guy on main street running a barber shop. Everyone has obligations and demands in life that can be totally overwhelming.
The song’s chorus also mentions that pressure, as much as it may hurt, can produce something good and it will happen if we hold on and persevere.
“Keep your head high, keep on fighting
Cause the pressure makes a diamond
Tomorrow’s a new day”
Much like the chorus to the song states, God’s Word also mentions that trials of any kind are not wasted but instead opportunities for growth. Romans 5:3-4, reads, “And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation works patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope:”
Yes, these tough times are, for the most part, out of our control. No one enjoys hardship. But even when we do not have total power over the situation, there are still things we can do.
The song mentions that negativity is never helpful, especially in trying times. So, in those instances, turn off the TV news broadcast. The news always seems to focus its attention on death and destruction. We do have a remote control. Change the channel or better yet, turn off the TV altogether.
James 1:12 “There is a blessing on the man who undergoes testing; because, if he has God’s approval, he will be given the crown of life, which the Lord has said he will give to those who have love for him.”
The struggles, hurt and heartaches that often accompany life can leave people feeling alone and unloved. It can push people to the edge, believing life is no longer worth living. But one song reminds those hurting and struggling that they are not alone. Love will find them in their time of need.
In a video posted to YouTube, Natalie Grant and Cory Asbury sing “You Will Be Found.” The song’s opening verses paint a picture of someone completely overwhelmed by life, so much so that they feel alone and that no one cares.
Despite the situation, the chorus points out that all these hurting people, in their time of need, will be found!
“When you need a friend to carry you
And when you’re broken on the ground
You will be found.”
The song’s lyrics go on to remind listeners that even when things seem their worst, “morning is breaking.” Hope is just beyond the horizon!
The video’s description makes it clear that the song is intended for anyone dealing with an overwhelming situation causing them extraordinary pain. They are not alone! Just hold on because love will find them!
“I pray this song is a reminder that every time you call out, you’re a little less alone. The love of Christ will find you wherever you are,” the description reads.
Unfortunately, people all around us are hurting. Whether it be physically, emotionally, spiritually or financially people are struggling. Most are simply looking for someone to lend a helping hand or be a shoulder to cry on. This song is an excellent reminder to be and show the love of Christ to someone who may need it.
Acts 4:12 “And in none other is there salvation: for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, wherein we must be saved.”
Acting and following God when the path forward is murky takes a tremendous amount of faith. In life, circumstances will test and stretch our faith in ways never imagined. One song is about acting, following and listening to God even when the next step is entirely unknown.
“Desert Road” by Casting Crowns is about those times and experiences in life when the path forward is a mystery, but choosing, in faith, to follow God’s direction.
The songwriter mentions being on a desert road with doubts, and questioning God. The lyrics ask God if this plan, which remains unclear at this point, is really what He intended.
Nevertheless, the songwriter puts their fears and doubts aside and steps out in faith. They are relying on their belief that God is still in control. He knows the plan and that’s good enough for them.
“I don’t know where this is going
But I know who holds my hand
It’s not the path I would have chosen, but I’ll follow you to the end”
The beautiful words so eloquently and concisely describe following and listening to God’s direction at times.
The song also mentions that perhaps the songwriter had shifted their focus and was leaning on their own knowledge and understanding. The songwriter, in this situation filled with unknowns, admits their error and is ready to listen and follow God’s plan once again.
In addition to the song’s beautiful lyrics about stepping out and acting in faith, the song’s video is also gorgeous. Viewers are treated to big, sweeping views of desert landscapes and massive rock formations.
As the lyrics remind us and the images in the video reiterates, even out in the desert, God is still in control and knows the way forward and we must trust Him.
Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Life can become a confounding and confusing mess, filled with uncertainty and hurt. People, with their own faulty reasoning and poor choices, can take their life in a direction they never intended. In those times when things are unclear, when the answers aren’t apparent, there is someone to turn to for guidance.
In the song “For All My Life,” the musician Taya sings about whom she is going to when things get murky and the path forward is questionable. As the song mentions, she is putting her “all her life” in God’s hands.
The first verse perfectly captures the confusion most people feel at one time or another. Who will she turn to when she's unable to bear the weight of everything and when her mind has become overwhelmed?
The chorus beautifully answers the question she poses.
“When my future is a little uncertain
Who can I turn to, turn to today
Who can I turn to, I turn to You”
Taya points out that instead of trusting and leaning on her own knowledge and reasoning, she will place all her trust in the Lord. The Lord, the song says, will be there whenever work becomes too much and whenever she is running on empty, He will fill her cup.
What a terrific song about faith and letting go of everything that may be holding us back! It takes a lot of faith to step out and go wherever the Lord may lead, even if it may not make sense at the time.
His will and purpose for our lives will always be greater than our own. People trying to go at it alone, who attempt to “lean on their own understanding” will encounter more problems and issues.
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths.”
Life will try your faith, patience and resolve. Many different circumstances will leave us broken and battered. But whatever may happen, whatever we may come up against, there is one name that has power over all hurt, brokenness and sin: Jesus.
“I Speak Jesus” by the Newsboys is a powerful and beautifully written song about Jesus and the power of His name.
The song's first two verses inform listeners that within Jesus’ name, there is peace. His name can also break any addiction that may have power over you. The chorus perfectly captures all that is in the name of Jesus.
“Your name is power
Your name is healing
Your name is life”
As powerful as those lyrics are, the song’s video is also just as moving. The video shows a couple who desperately wants to become parents. For years, the couple goes through the ups and downs of getting pregnant, as the video shows.
Despite their efforts, the couple keeps encountering tests informing them they are not pregnant. Every single time they are heartbroken by the unfortunate news.
The couple finally learns they are going to be parents after trying for years. Everyone is obviously overjoyed for the two.
By the end of the video, we see the happy family enjoying life together!
Several people responded on YouTube to the video, mentioning their own struggles with conceiving.
“I couldn’t help myself, but a tear came down my face as my wife and I went through the very same. Praise the Lord, after many attempts and prayers (about 5 years of pain and disappointment) our son was born. Glory to God!” one person wrote.
“Crying like a baby watching this. My husband and I tried for years to have a baby. It just wasn’t God’s will. I know that God loves us very much. I have nieces and nephews to love on,” a second person added.
Hebrews 10:23 “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for he is faithful that promised.”
You have to listen to this great song called ‘Amazing’ by Pastor Mike Jr. and let the lyrics encourage you today!
“I remember when, I remember, I remember when he saved my life
Everything before that was just a blur, I was wild, living real foul, I just weren't right
I remember when, I remember, I remember when he changed my name
From sick to healed, from broke to blessed
Now I can testify that I'll never be the same (never be same)”
This powerful song is an inspirational cover of Gnarles Barkley’s song ‘Crazy.’ And in the song ‘Amazing’ by Pastor Mike Jr., people will be reminded of God’s amazing goodness and love.
The song ‘Amazing’ was a hit, and Pastor Mike Jr. shares his thoughts about the reception of his song. “I’ll never take moments like this for granted! To be a new artist, independent, and have three consecutive #1 singles is unprecedented!
It’s proof God is doing the impossible!” he says. “I’m grateful for my brother Jevon Hill producing it, and Adia Andrews co-writing it with me. None of this would have been possible without you two.”
In the music video, Pastor Mike Jr. is singing in an empty building with a talented choir singing and dancing around him. They are all praising the name of our Heavenly Father, and it is a very uplifting thing to see.
“This song is truly my testimony of how amazing my God is!” comments one person on YouTube after watching the music video.
“I cried as soon as I heard the first verse. Jesus I thank you!” writes another person online.
This song is sure to uplift you as you listen to it today! May you be blessed by the beautiful music and message.
In the world today, many people are hurting and struggling with a variety of things. Due to a past sin or mistake, some may believe they are beyond saving, unworthy of being cared for or loved. Thankfully, there is One who can turn situations and entire lives around!
Branan Murphy’s song “My Life” is about God's redeeming power and grace. The song’s first verse mentions and acknowledges people who, for whatever reason, believe they are beyond saving. The singer states that given his life, he knows he was “an unlikely candidate” and “never deserved such grace.”
God can and does come into our lives, change us and mend broken relationships! He can completely change bleak and depressing situations that are seemingly without hope.
The song also mentions words do fall short of telling others of the work God has done or is doing. The best way to understand a change is to view it yourself. That is exactly what the songwriter does for anyone who questions what may have happened to him. He tells people to look at his life in order to see the changes God has made.
“I could tell you a thousand times
But if you really wanna see redemption
Take a look at my life”
Later in the song, the singer states God’s love and grace are available to all, even those who feel that “God’s love could never find” them. The singer again uses himself as an example. Don’t believe that God can save or love you? Well, take a look at the changes in his life, the lyrics state.
No one is perfect. Romans 3:23 reads, “for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.” Despite our sins and shame, God is still working today, changing lives!
Ephesians 1:7 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;”
Fear, unfortunately, is a powerful emotion. It can keep people from reaching their full potential, from being all God has planned and intended for them. Thankfully, God and the faith and peace He provides are also powerful, able to overcome doubt and fear.
Mark chapter 4 mentions an instance in which the disciples were fearful, despite having Jesus alongside them in their boat. They were afraid of the storm and of drowning in the sea. Jesus was awakened by his disciples and calmed the wind and the waters by simply saying, “Peace, be still.” He then admonished them for their lack of faith.
In “Peace Be Still,” Hope Darst uses Jesus’ words from Mark 4 to sing about not being afraid when coming up against life’s many storms. Instead of having worry and anxiety like the disciples, Hope wishes to rely upon the Lord’s Word and direction.
In the song’s chorus, she mentions that all she needs is for the Lord to command and she will act.
“Say the word and I will
Set my feet upon the sea
Till I’m dancing in the deep”
Later in the song, Hope sings that she will not be afraid because what has come up against her is only waves. She adds that He is greater and more powerful than what is opposing her. Acting in such a way requires a fair amount of strength of faith, which Hope also asks for in the song.
“Peace Be Still” is a beautiful song about overcoming fear and doubt and having enough faith in Christ that no matter what we encounter in life, we will be victorious.
Be sure to give this delightful and truth-filled song a listen!
Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord your God, he it is that does go with you; he will not fail you, nor forsake you.”
